Trying to Make the Most of a Situation

Hello girlfriends!!
It was only a matter of time before I actually created a blog about something I've become passionate about of late; stretching those dollars. As some of you know, I started selling Avon, not because I wanted to make a career of it, but I realized I could no longer afford the high-end department store products such as Bobbi Brown, Lancome, MAC, and yes, Chanel (those were the days!!). It has inspired me to research the deals, and share them with you.

My goal here is to review products that are, to say... uh, what's the word?? Easy on the pocketbook. Cheap, even, without compromising quality. Tough job, but someone's gotta do it.

Like many of you, I recently had my hours cut at work, due to the lovely status of the economy. One of the things that had to go was my bi-monthly appointment to get my hair colored. Unfortunately, $80 plus a 15% tip is just too prohibitive for me these days.

Let me say, I hate coloring my own hair. I have ruined countless towels, bathmats and shower curtains, not to mention left stains on my walls by the dripping gunk that comes out of the squeeze bottle. After several failed attempts with other products, I tried Clairol Perfect 10 because it took 10 minutes to process, and the applicator looked... helpful. Like a little comb.

I LOVE THIS STUFF!! The color is rich, my hair looks healthy and shiny and it has volume. The conditioner leaves it silky, and I feel like I just stepped out of the salon. It was easy to apply and no towels or mats were lost in the process. I paid $17 at Rite Aid, but I've seen it as low as $13. I've used this product twice, and I'm very happy with it. It looks as good as the salon color. Really.

Bottom line: $92(incl. tip) vs $17.45 (incl. tax). I just saved $74.55. That's 7 bottles of wine, or a darned good happy hour. Hmmm. Maybe one of these times I'll review wine deals... I know of a great Spanish Temperanillo for under $10!

I welcome anyone who has tried a product of any kind, and wants to share it!

Next week: yup, my Avon Experience!

Cheers!!

Claudia
